About The Hamilton House

The Hamilton House is a historic inn turned vacation rental, located on the beautiful Naples Causeway. We are honored to host your group and hope you enjoy the property’s rich history alongside its stunning setting. Our mission is to preserve the historic character of the house while offering all the modern amenities needed for a comfortable and memorable stay.

Originally built in the 1800s, the property opened as the Hotel Naples in 1890. In 1947, local businessman Augustus Bove purchased the building, transforming it into his private home. By 1985, it had become a bed and breakfast known as the Augustus Bove House. In 2025, we rebranded the property as The Hamilton House, honoring its storied past while adapting it to serve as a spacious vacation rental. After a storm-related flood destroyed much of the main building, our redesign aimed to recreate the Naples Hotel look and feel with a modern touch, ensuring every guest enjoys comfort alongside history.

A History of Home and Hospitality

As a large, close-knit family, we often struggled to find rentals that could accommodate our whole group comfortably. Our vision for The Hamilton House was to provide a single property where everyone could gather for meals and entertainment while enjoying the privacy of rooms with their own bathrooms—a rare find in most vacation rentals.

Why The Hamilton House?

Maine holds a special place in our hearts. Suzy’s love for the region began at Camp Wohelo on Sebago Lake, where she spent ten summers as a camper and counselor. Her mother, Carolyn Elder, also attended Wohelo, passing down a deep appreciation for Maine’s natural beauty. The Hamilton family continues to celebrate this connection, owning a small camp nearby in Sebago and sharing the lakeside lifestyle with friends and family.
