Accommodations at The Hamilton House

The Hamilton House offers 11 beautifully appointed accommodations, each with its own unique character. Their design is inspired by the property’s history, the natural beauty of Maine, and Suzy Hamilton’s personal connection to the area. Designed to accommodate up to 28 guests, each room or suite provides a private bath and thoughtful design details that blend historic charm with modern comfort. Guests can choose from elegant suites in the main house or cozy, private cottages just steps away, ensuring a perfect fit for families, friends, or groups of any size.

Family-friendly, casual lake views. Named perhaps with a wink toward a pivotal restart, this room invites multi-generational joy, basking in calming views and a relaxed tone.

Waterloo

Both beautiful and mysterious. Though Rendered with innocence, Monkshood - also known as Wolfsbane - carries a duality of charm and danger, a nod to complexity beneath the surface elegance.

St. Peters Suite

Named after the dock at Wohelo, the Lewa Suite features Woodland Weeds by Morris & Co., a symmetrical millefleurs design by John Henry Dearle, first printed in 1905. Evoking a wild meadow bursting with tiny flowers, the suite reflects Suzy Hamilton’s deep appreciation for Maine’s unspoiled beauty.

The Sivad Suite

“Sivad” – “Davis” spelled backwards – is a tribute to Davis Van Winkle, a beloved director at Wohelo Camps. The suite features Monkshood, a bold 1901 design by Alan Francis Vigers. Though lighthearted in appearance, the wallpaper has a darker backstory as a toxic plant once used on arrows, giving the room layered charm – beautiful but with a hint of mystery.

Second Floor Suite

Honoring both a Wohelo lodge and Suzy’s children’s high school mascot, The Eagles Suite celebrates flight, freedom, and family. Featuring Elmcote by Morris & Co., a 1900 design by J.H. Dearle, the suite embodies groundedness, tradition, and nobility.

Named for the “Great Bear” constellation, Ursa Major symbolizes strength and guidance. Adorned with Schumacher’s green hydrangea wallpaper, it represents good fortune, prosperity, and youthfulness. The suite opens to a newly planted front garden filled with hydrangeas, connecting indoor design to the landscape.

Ursa Major

The “Little Bear” constellation, containing the North Star, symbolizes constancy and navigation. Wrapped in blue hydrangea wallpaper by Schumacher, the suite evokes honor, glory, and protection. Like Ursa Major, it opens to the front garden for a cohesive experience.

Ursa Minor

Named for the legendary hunter in the stars and a dear friend of Suzy’s, Orion features Pimpernel by Morris & Co., designed in 1876 by William Morris. The tender floral pattern makes this suite ideal for introspection and quietude.

Orion

This celestial suite honors the proud queen of the heavens. It features Laceflower by C.F.A. Voysey, circa 1895, in Garden Green and Cobalt. The dreamy, poetic pattern complements the suite’s celestial theme.

Cassiopeia

Inspired by rock formations at Wohelo, The Heavenlies suite evokes high, airy ideals. Swathed in Willow Leaf by Schumacher, the design reflects 19th-century botanical aesthetics and embraces the ethereal spirit of stars, breeze, and dreams once kindled on a Maine lakeshore.

The Heavenlies

This twin-bedded suite features Lafayette Botanical by Schumacher, a vibrant pattern inspired by 18th-century French chintz. Incorporating florals and pineapples once prized in global trade, the room evokes curiosity, abundance, and cross-cultural beauty.
